Kano - One person lost his life on Wednesday when suspected political thugs belonging to the All Progressives Congres (APC)s clashed in Kano State, reports Daily Trust
The party in the state is sharply divided between supporters of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and his predecessor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
Wednesday's incident occurred when some political thugs from Bagwai Local Government Area, who accompanied some party chieftains to the party's secretariat, started shouting ‘Bama yi,’ meaning, ‘we don’t like Abdullahi Abbas,’ who is the factional chairman of the party loyal to Ganduje.
Soon after the thugs started chanting the protest slogan, some people suspected to be Abbas’s loyalists, engaged them in a free-for-all fight.
At the end of the fracas, one person was killed while several others sustained injuries.
