Makurdi - The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of planning to hire political thugs and use fake security men during the Benue South Senatorial District rerun election, reports The Nation

The party said the thugs and fake security men would be deployed to manipulate the election in favour of the APC.

The party Chairman, Dr. Emmanuel Agbo, who raised the alarm on Sunday said the APC plans to sew military and police uniform for hoodlums.

Agbo also alleged that the APC has been intimidating local government caretaker committees to ensure the APC candidate wins by all means or they will be sacked.

He noted that the people of the senatorial district have resolved to resist any form of intimidation and harassment from external forces.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed February for the conduct of the Benue South Senatorial rerun election.

The contest is between the immediate past Senate President, David Mark of the PDP and Daniel Onjeh of the APC.
