PDP alleges plot to arrest its leaders ahead of Rivers rerun poll

19 July 2016, 17:32

Port Harcourt - The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State on Monday said it had uncovered an alleged plot to arrest some of its leaders in the state ahead of the July 30 rescheduled rerun elections, reports Daily Post.

The party said the move was part of an alleged game plan of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to rig the election.

Spokesman of the PDP in the state, Samuel Wonosike who disclosed this in Port Harcourt, said  his party will resist any move that will run contrary to the Electoral Act and the constitution during the election.

Wonosike according to Vanguard said that the PDP was not afraid of going into the election, adding that the Federal Government and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), should ensure a level playing field for all participating political parties.

He urged President Muhammadu Buhari to call the leaders of the APC in the state to order, saying that they should be cautioned against electoral violence.
