PDP, APC fight over Dickson’s Aso Rock visit

31 December 2015, 11:40

Yenagoa - Gov Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State Tuesday’s visit to Aso Rock has pitted the All Progressives Congress (APC) against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, reports Punch.

The APC in the state said Dickson’s visit was an apparent move to lobby President Muhammadu Buhari ahead of the January 9 governorship election rerun in the state.

The party described the governor as a desperate and violence-prone candidate of the PDP.

The party wondered why the governor wanted to see the President he had accused of wanting to rig the Bayelsa poll with federal might.

But the PDP in a swift reaction said Dickson was not in Aso Rock to see President Buhari.

The PDP, which described the APC statement as lies, said the APC was wrong to think Dickson would visit Aso Villa without any previous appointment.

Director of Publicity, Restoration Campaign Organisation of the PDP, Jonathan Obuebite in a statement said it will be inconceivable for anyone to assume, much less believe that the Governor of an oil rich state that contributes over 40 per cent of the nation’s wealth will be denied access to see the President.
