PDP, APC fight over Metuh’s arrest

08 January 2016, 13:11

Lagos - Lagos State chapters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) have disagreed over the arrest of the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Olisa Metuh, reports Vanguard.

Metuh was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the $2.1 billion arms deal.

The state PDP accused the APC of instigating the persecution of  Metuh.

The party in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Taofik Gani, said the arrest of the Metuh is only being made convenient with his involvement in the arms deal.

But in a swift reaction, the APC described the PDP’s allegation as unfounded.

Joe Igbokwe, Publicity Secretary of the APC in Lagos, noted that Metuh’s arrest has nothing to do with politics.

He said the APC is not clamping down on the PDP.

He urged the PDP to redeem itself before it can become a credible opposition.
