PDP BoT insists Sheriff must go in May

30 March 2016, 11:28

Abuja - The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has insisted that the party’s National Chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff, must vacate the seat on May 21.

There have been reports of intense lobbying by the National Chairman to some party stakeholders to support him to continue in office beyond the National Convention.

Acting BOT Chairman Senator Walid Jibrin, who issued the warning at a media briefing in Abuja on Tuesday, said such moves by Sheriff would lead to anarchy and trouble for the party.

Jubrin said those asking Sheriff to stay in office beyond the three months approved by various organs of the party did not mean well for the party.

Jibrin enjoined Sheriff to ignore those he described as sycophants and praise singers and vacate the seat after the party’s national convention.

He also warned against subversion of the zoning arrangement, proposed by the Ike Ekweremadu’s Post-Election Review Committee, which zoned the party’s 2019 presidential ticket to the North.
