PDP BoT to take over party leadership

25 May 2016, 17:24

Abuja - Following conflicting court judgments on the authentic leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the party's Board of Trustees (BoT) on Tuesday gave indication that it would take over the party's administration, reports NewsDay

Former Minister of Transport and BoT secretary, Ojo Madueke said the move, which he claimed was in consonance with PDP's constitution, was to avoid a vacuum in its operations.

He said the  board  could not  fold its arms and watch the party go into extinction.

Madueke noted that the BoT was consulting with the PDP governors and the Ahmed Makarfi-led caretaker committee to save the party from “imminent collapse

Madueke according to Information Nigeria  said the current crisis rocking the party is too useful to be wasted, adding that the party elders have decided not to allow the embattled former Nationl Chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff to “burry the party.

Maduekwe, who was Nigeria’s former Ambassador to Canada said the party lost valuable time since its defeat at the 2015 general elections because of “impunity” pointing out that the party needed to learn from its past mistakes in order for it to regain power at the centre in 2019.
