PDP crisis: State chairmen back Makarfi

28 June 2016, 10:52

Abuja - State chairmen from 24 states chapters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have pledged their loyalty to the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker committee, reports The Nation.

The chairmen gave their commitment on Monday when they paid a solidarity visit to the caretaker committee in Abuja.

The chairmen said they would continue to respect the decision of the May 21 national convention of the party that set up the committee, reports Vanguard

The chairmen called on Senator Ali Modu Sheriff to respect the decision of the party taken at the convention.

Speaking on behalf of the chairmen, Yunus Sulaiman, who is the Chairman of the party in the Federal Capital Territory, maintained that the Port Harcourt convention was a product of the party’s constitution.

In his reaction, Makarfi expressed happiness with the solidarity visit of the state chairmen, noting that since seven states of the federation do not have a substantive executive, it was indication that the whole party structures are with the caretaker committee.
