Abuja – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction of the opposition led by former minister of information, Jerry Gana has reportedly held its parallel national convention in Abuja.
According to Premium Times, the other PDP faction led by Modu Sheriff, the party’s national chairperson, was being conducted in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Gana’s group announced the removal of Sheriff from the office, the report said.This Day
reported earlier on Saturday that Rivers State Governor and Chairperson of the PDP, Nyesom Wike, had confirmed that the convention would go ahead in Port Harcourt despite court orders that restrained the party from holding elections into some offices.
A Federal High Court in lagos had barred the party from conducting elections
in the offices of the chairperson, secretary and auditor at the convention.
