Abuja – The leadership crisis currently rocking the former ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) reportedly deepened on Wednesday, with the youths besieging the Wadata Plaza and ordering all staff out of the building.
According to Sahara Reporters, a group of youths under the aegis of the Amalgamation of PDP Youth loyal to Ahmed Markafi, the chairperson of the National Caretaker Committee, broke into the premises while carrying placards and told policemen drafted to the secretariat not to dare them.
After evacuating all staff in the four-story building, protesters locked up the main gate with a new padlock and handed over the key to the Board of Trustees chairperson, Walid Jibrin, for safe keeping, the report said.
This came a day after the youths threatened to take over the national leadership of the party if the prolonged leadership crisis in the former ruling party was not resolved within the next seven days.
The youths claimed that there were not happy about the unabated internal wrangling besetting the party.
