Abuja - The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in
Rivers State has condemned recent violence attacks in some local government
The party claimed it had evidence of the perpetrators felt
uncomfortable with the achievements of Wike and the PDP in just few months in
the saddle of governance in the state and had decided to “puncture and destroy
such unprecedented records.”
The PDP particularly alluded to the cases of attacks on some
PDP leaders and members in Port Harcourt, Obio/Akpor, Gokana, Asari-Toru and
ONELGA local government areas.
It accused security agencies for collaborate with leaders of
the All Progressives Congress (APC) to carry out those actions on defenseless

The party condemned the alleged actions of one Major
Mustapha, who was said to be a star witness for the APC at the governorship
He is now said to be leading the so-called “Operation
Exterminate PDP Leaders” in the state.
“It is a known fact that these attacks are orchestrated and
sponsored in the state to undermine and discredit the efforts of the State
government in ensuring peace and security,” said Jerry Needam, Special Adviser
on Media and Publicity to the Rivers PDP Chairman, Felix Obuah.
“We hope that President Buhari and the national APC
leadership will heed the call for restrain on their members in the State and
act plausibly and timely to avert possible break down of law and order in the
The party equally appealed to its members and Rivers people
to remain calm and law abiding, even in the event of provocation.
“We are doing everything legally possible to secure
justice,” said Needam.
