PDP demands prosecution of Bayelsa violence instigators

12 January 2016, 08:39

Abuja - The People's Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded a probe into the killings during the last Saturday’s supplementary election in Bayelsa State.

The party decried the violence, which it blamed on the alleged All Progressives Congress (APC) thugs and some compromised security operatives.

These allegedly engaged in violence resulting in the killing and maiming of innocent citizens in the state.

“We hereby demand a comprehensive inquest into these killings and that all perpetrators be brought to book,” PDP Acting National Chairman, Prince Uche  Secondus, said.

The party meanwhile commended the people of Bayelsa State for standing against alleged intimidation, rigging and violence.

PDP's Seriake Dickson emerged the winner to retain his position ahead of APC challenger, Timipre Sylva.

Violence characterised the run up to the poll. Sylva distance himself and the party from violence.
