PDP dismisses Sylva’s alleged endorsement by Bayelsa elders

25 November 2015, 15:04

Yenagoa - The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State has refuted the purported endorsement of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Timipre Sylva, by the state Council of Elders, reports NewsDay.

The party said it was deceitful and misleading for Sylva to have claimed that the elders endorsed him.

In a statement, the Director of Publicity of the Restoration Campaign Organisation, Jonathan Obuebite, the party said the elders only implored Sylva to run a violence-free campaign and be ready to accept defeat in humility if he loses in the election.

The party accused Sylva and his campaign team of spreading lies and mischievous publications to give the impression that he was acceptable to the people in the state.

Sylva was reported to have been endorsed by the elders after they extracted a promise from him that he would not bear any grudge against any Bayelsan over his past political travails especially his disqualification from the Bayelsa governorship race in 2011.
