PDP faults Oyegun’s comments on Ekweremadu

12 July 2016, 20:30

Abuja - The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has faulted the position of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), John Odigie-Oyegun’s position on the ongoing trial of the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, reports NewsDay.

Ekweremadu is currently facing trial alongside the President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki and two others over alleged forgery of the 2015 Senate standing rules.

Odigie-Oyegun according to Daily Post had said that the emergence of Ekweremadu as Deputy Senate President rankled the APC, adding that the party found it very difficult to accept Ekweremadu’s emergence.

But PDP in a statement by the spokesperson of the National Caretaker Committee, Dayo Adeyeye on Tuesday, said Odigie-Oyegun’s statement confirmed the rumpus in the Senate, including the unrelenting harassment of Senate leadership and the recent arraignment of its presiding officers on phantom criminal charges of conspiracy and forgery.

He also labelled the criminal charges against the principal officers as phantom and shenanigan.
