PDP governors may float new party

19 September 2016, 12:03

Abuja - The crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is far from being over as some governors elected on the party’s platform are set to dump the party for a new political party, reports Naij.

The governors are believed to be wooing some other stakeholders in the party as well as politicians from across the country.

The identity of the PDP governors is still being shielded.

The PDP currently has 12 governors in its fold.

The leadership crisis in the party has lingered since it lost the 2015 general elections, reports News 24

The election of Ali Modu Sheriff further polarised the party.

The crisis worsened when the governors turned their backs on the former governor of Borno State with allegations that he is linked to the Boko Haram terrorism or that he has a plan to corner the party in favour of his presidential ambition in 2019.

An attempt to oust him has resulted various court cases for and against the governors and the party
