'PDP ready to receive APC members in Rivers’

01 February 2016, 17:15

Port Harcourt -  The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has said it is ready to receive its former members who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) back into the party.

The party said it would only regard them as prodigal sons that have  learnt their lessons and have returned back home.

The party’s state Chairman, Felix Obuah in a statement promised not to discriminate against them.

He noted that they would be carried  along in the party.

He said the party was large enough to accommodate those who left the PDP at the eleventh hour due to the fear that the judgment of the Supreme Court would not favour Governor Wike.

Obuah said the party was planning a reception for some prominent leaders and members of the APC across the 23 Local Government Areas of the state.

The statement reads, “The mass defection of APC members into the PDP in less than five days after the Supreme Court judgment is unprecedented. The PDP would not only give the returning members a befitting reception, but would also carry them along in the scheme of things. Like the father of the prodigal son, the PDP will accept them back and carry them along.”
