PDP rejects FCT election results

15 April 2016, 11:03

Abuja - The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the just concluded Federal Capital Territory (FCT) area councils elections as a shame.

The party stated that the federal government, officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security operatives manipulated the elections in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The PDP, which was the dominant party at the councils before the elections, lost at all the six area councils

The APC won five chairmanship seats while the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) won one

The Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship candidate of the PDP, Bitrus Tanko Kura who spoke after the candidate of the APC was declared winner of the election, said it was sad that the government that wanted to fight corruption could conduct such a shameful election.

He said such an election had never occurred in the history of the Federal Capital Territory.

He alleged that money was shared to voters at various polling units in the open in the presence of security men and nobody was arrested.
