05 May 2016, 10:35

Abeokuta - The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South-west has endorsed its National Executive Committee’s proposal to retain the position of the National Chairman of the party in the North ahead of the party’s National convention in Port-Harcourt.

This formed part of the resolutions at the end of the Zonal Executive meeting held in Ijebu-Igbo, Ijebu North local government area of Ogun State, South-West Nigeria.

The zonal body also resolved to share the four party positions zoned to the region between the two factions, led by Olabode George and Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose.

The meeting, which issued 8-point communique at the end of Exco, has in attendance thirty executive members from the six states as well as some party loyalists.

The National Vice-Chairman, South-west, Makanjuola Ogundipe, who presided over the meeting said the chapter would support the incumbent National Chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff, if he indicates interest to continue in office.
