PDP suspends chairman

30 September 2016, 08:31

Kogi State - The State Executive Committee (SEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kogi State suspended its chairman, Sam Uhuot after the SEC members passed a vote of no confidence, Naij reports.

The executive members gave Uhuot a vote of no confidence after they claimed that he violated some provisions of the party's constitution.

According to the members, Uhuot has deliberately refused to call a meeting of the SEC since being appointed and he also refused to be present at the office in Lokoja, preferring to stay in Abuja.

"The under listed members of the state executive committee of the party wish to bring to your notice that we no longer have confidence in your ability to lead and carry the party to its desired destination due to your constant and deliberate violations of the provisions of our party constitution," parts of the no confidence letter read.

Since the suspension of its chairman, the PDP have stated that Uhuot's deputy will assume the role of chairman.
