PDP wants Faleke sacked from House of Reps

21 January 2016, 13:21

Lagos - The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dragged the lawmaker representing the Ikeja Federal Constituency of Lagos State in the House of Representatives, James Faleke to court, reports Punch.

The party has approached a Federal High Court in Lagos, seeking an order to remove him as the lawmaker representing the Ikeja Federal Constituency in the House.

The suit was filed by a PDP member, Olakunle Okunola, with the PDP listed as the second plaintiff.

The plaintiffs want the court to declare that Faleke’s membership of the House of Representatives had terminated because his voting data had been transferred from the Ikeja Federal Constituency to Ekinrin-ade ward of the Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

According to the plaintiffs, Faleke cannot remain a member of the House of Representatives while being nominated as a deputy governorship candidate in another state.

Faleke, who hails from Kogi State, was running mate to the late Abubakar Audu, who was leading at the poll but died before the final result was declared.

Joined as respondents in the suit are Faleke,, his party, All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
