PDP welcomes Rivers latest poll results

30 March 2016, 16:29

Abuja - The Rivers State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has congratulated its candidates who emerged victorious in the results so far released and declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

State PDP Chairman, Felix Obuah, said the victory of the candidates once again confirmed the “popularity” and “acceptability” of the party in the state.

While also felicitating with the people of the state for voting for the emergence of the PDP candidates in the state and federal constituencies, Obuah assured that the party would not let them down in the delivery of its campaign promises.

He took a swipe at the rival All Progressives Congress following the violence that marred the polls.

“…the obvious fact is that Rivers State is 100 percent PDP. The desperation, blackmail and intimidation by the APC and Rotimi Amaechi will not reverse the trend,” said Obuah.

Amaechi is the immediate past governor.

The PDP chairman enjoined Rivers people to remain resolute as they awaited the release of the remaining results and new dates for the re-run election in Local Government Areas were elections were suspended following the distribution of fake result sheets.

“These delays are deliberate attempt by the APC to buy more time and fashion out strategies to manipulate the results.”
