PDP’s BoT moves to reconcile Sheriff, Makarfi

08 August 2016, 19:30

Abuja - An end may be in sight for the lingering crisis in the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) has set up a reconciliatory committee, reports Channels TV.

The board on Monday constituted an 18-man reconciliation committee that will look into the crisis rocking the party.

The 18-member committee, which is chaired by a former Minister of Information, Prof. Jerry Gana, is to reconcile the Ali Modu Sheriff camp with the Ahmed Makarfi led Caretaker Committee.

Other members of the committee are Shuaibu Oyedokun, Senator Ibrahim Ida, Hajia Inna Ciroma, Senator Biodun Olujimi and Air Commodore Dan Suleiman (rtd), among others, reports The Nation.

Inaugurating the committee in Abuja on Monday, chairman of the BoT, Senator Walid Jibrin, said the trustees would not sit by and watch the party destroyed by the lingering leadership crisis.

He appealed to all warring factions in the party to sheathe their sword and give peace a chance.

Gana, on his part promised that the committee would work assiduously to broker peace between all the PDP members.
