Abuja - The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday issued the Certificate of Return to Uche Ogah as the new Governor of Abia State.
A Federal High court in Abuja had on Monday asked INEC to cede the Certificate of Return issued to Okezie Ikpeazu to Ogah, who was his opponent in the Peoples Democratic Party governorship primary.
Ogah had dragged the governor to court for lying about some of the information he submitted to the PDP during the primary, according to News 24
Giving his ruling, Justice Okon Abang, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately issue a certificate of return to Ogah, who polled the second highest number of votes in the primary.
The judge also ordered the Chief Judge of the state to swear in Ogah as the substantive Governor of Abia State.
It is, however, unclear whether Ikpeazu would vacate the seat.

This is because he and the PDP had already appealed the judgement of the court.
The governor and the PDP in their notice of appeal urged the Court of Appeal to stay execution of the judgement of the lower court.
