Plot to kill Needam: Rivers demands probe

Abuja - Rivers State Deputy Governor, Ipalibo Harry Banigo, has called on police to speed investigations and arrest culprits in the alleged attempt on the life of Jerry Needam, media adviser of the People's Democratic Party chairperson.

She also urged the law enforcers to ensure three security operatives who lost their lives during the recent attack were arrested and charged.

Banigo observed that the incident was coming barely few weeks after two similar incidents.

She said the Police should endeavour to get to the root of the matter and bring the perpetrators to book.

The deputy governor expressed confidence in the ability of the State Police Command to unravel those behind the act on Needam.

She urged the public to provide the police with useful information that would assist them apprehend the culprits and fight criminality in the state.

Banigo reiterated the commitment of the Governor Nyesom Wike-led government to continue to assist the police and other security agencies to check crime rate in the state.

Needam recently escaped a third assassination attempt as unknown gunmen invaded his Port Harcourt residence killing two policemen and a security guard.
