Senators loyal to Senator Ahmed Lawan operating under the aegis of the Unity Forum on Tuesday spit fire over the 65 Special and Standing committees constituted by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki., reports Punch.
The senators are demanding the immediate cancellation of the additional eight committees created by Saraki, on the grounds of illegality.
The senators created trouble on the floor of the Senate on Tuesday.
Raising a point of order, Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Marafa , who is the spokesperson of the Forum , said Saraki violated the 1999 Constitution and the Senate Standing orders in composition of the committees.

He argued that the Senate leadership erred by not seeking the approval of the entire senators before making the new committees public despite the fact that necessary sections of the nation’s constitution and the Senate Rules made adequate provisions for that.
Marafa was supported by Suleiman Hunkunyi , who is the Secretary of the group.
Saraki in his response said that the observations of Marafa would be noted by the Selection Committee.
Not satisfied with Saraki’s response , both senators addressed journalists after the plenary.
They expressed their determination to relinquish their appointments with immediate effect.
