Abuja - The All Progressives Congress (APC)
has denied any involvement in some raids at a local government area (LGA) in
the Rivers State.
Security agents have carried out such raids in Yeghe,
Gokana LGA and other security dark spots in the region seen as a stronghold of
the People's Democratic Party (PDP).
“This trend of narrative being dishonestly foisted on the
people through the media by elements of the PDP is most uncharitable,
manifestly dishonest and flies in the face of logical reasoning,” APC
spokesman, Chris Finebone, said.
“It is important to remind everyone that the APC, as a
political party, has no mandate to embark on security duties either on its own
or in conjunction with security agencies under any circumstances
Finebone said the APC restricted itself to its function
of seeking political power through legitimate political processes.

He advised the PDP
in Rivers State to “look inwards” and blame itself for the present kidnapping,
armed robbery, cultism, killings and general insecurity it has foisted on
Rivers people and residents.
The crimes are said to have warranted the intervention of
PDP has on the contrary reported measures had been put in
place resulting in a reduction of such cases.
Finebone said if PDP disagreed with APC's position, it
should lend a voice of support to the actions of the security agencies aimed at
restoring security in Rivers State than resent and blame others.
"Indeed, the PDP should blame itself,”
