Rivers APC demands Gov Wike’s resignation

Port Harcourt - The All Progressives Congress (APC) has called for the immediate resignation of Nyesom Wike as Governor of Rivers State, reports The News.

The party also wants the Wike to be prosecuted for spearheading the attack on its members on Monday.

The APC members were attacked on their way to Port Harcourt to attend the Black Monday rally organized to honour over 100 party members in the state that were killed in the course of the campaigns and the 2015 elections held on 28 March 28 and 11 April.

Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, Chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the party, said over 60 party supporters from Omuma, Etche, Eleme, Degema, Gokana Asari-Toru and Akuku-Toru local government areas escaped death when Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gunmen attacked the buses conveying them to the venue of the rally in Port Harcourt,

Ikanya said ten of the buses conveying the supporters were destroyed and burnt by the gunmen.
