Rivers Rerun: More PDP chieftains defect to APC

08 December 2016, 14:24

Rivers - The All Progressives Congress (APC) believes the defection of Olaka Nwogu and Kingston Sylvanus had weakened the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the forthcoming rerun legislative polls.

It was reported Nwogu to sacrifice his senatorial ambition and join forces with the APC Rivers South East candidate, Magnus Abe.

Nogwu is said to have left with 300 supporters.

Sylvanus has also reportedly defected to APC with over 600 PDP members.

The officials are both rated as strategists and strongmen of the PDP.

“It is said that with this development both Ikuru, Secondus, Wike are now a little less better than orphans in the politics of Andonai,” said Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, spokesperson of the Rivers APC chairman.

Tele Ikuru, Uche Secondus and Governor Nyesom Wike are among the PDP’s most prominent figures in Rivers.

Eze projected the rejection of the PDP in the polls set for Saturday.

“The time has come to free Rivers State from the shackles of doom and blood hunters.”
