#Rivers Rerun: Peterside congratulates Abe on victory

12 December 2016, 16:23

Abuja – The losing All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the 2015 Rivers State governorship elections, Dakuku Peterside, has congratulated the party’s Magnus Abe for his victory at the just-concluded rerun polls.

He described the victory as “pleasant and reassuring” despite alleged odds set by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) against the expression of the will of the people of Rivers.

“With this victory and those of other APC candidates, Rivers people have an opportunity of rebuilding new structures of integration with the centre and development based on genuine representation,” said Peterside.

He expressed gratitude to the people of Rivers South East for their resoluteness.

Peterside dedicated the victory to “all who sacrificed their blood” in earlier elections to give the state a voice at the centre and good governance.

Abe polled won with a total of 125 938 votes to defeat Olaka Nwogu of PDP, who garnered 25 394 votes.
