Saraki begs PDP senators

02 December 2016, 14:50

Abuja - Following the row on the floor of the Senate on Wednesday, Senate President Bukola Saraki has reportedly begged senators elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The PDP senators had staged a walkout over the defection of Senator Yele Omogunwa from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The PDP senator after the protest embarked on a marathon meeting which started at the National Assembly and continued at the residence of one of their leaders same day.

At the end of the meeting, the PDP senators agreed to withdrawn their support for Saraki, reports Daily Trust

PDP senators were behind the emergence of Saraki as the Senate president against the wish of  his party, APC.

Few hours after the meeting of the PDP senators, Saraki was reported to have arrange another meeting with them.

A source who attended the meeting early on Thursday before the day’s plenary ‎session, said the PDP senators expressed dissatisfaction with way Saraki overruled the Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio, when he raised point of order on the matter.

However, Saraki begged PDP senators not to allow what transpired at plenary over the defection of Omogunwa affect the cordial relationship he has been enjoying with opposition party.
