SDP accuses APC of smear campaign politics

16 March 2016, 14:19

Abuja - The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government of indulging in politics of smear campaign, blackmail and intimidation of perceived foes.

The party in release on Tuesday said it was appalled by the APC’s deliberate attempts to harass and intimidate credible opponents to dance to their political tunes by smearing them with lies and non-existing corruption charges.

National Publicity Secretary of the party, Alfa Mohammed, said the SDP was piqued that the ruling party has through its anti-graft and security agencies attempted to discredit key political figures just to force their hands to swallow their anti-people policies and programmes.

In apparent reference to revived allegation that the party through its leadership benefitted from the $2.1billion aims deal scandal, the SDP again exonerated its National Chairman, OluFalae,

The party stated that the N100m Falae received on behalf of the party was in furtherance of the inter-party electoral alliance between the SDP and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2015 general elections.

The SDP reiterated its earlier position that it was not aware of the PDP’s source of fund apart from the knowledge of its fund raiser, where it publicly raised over N20bn.
