Senator threatens to sue APC over false accusations

24 December 2015, 12:41

Kaduna - The senator representing Kaduna Central in the Senate, Senator Shehu Sani has threatened to drag his party, the All Progressives Congress to court over false allegations against him, reports Peoples Daily.

Sani has given the leadership of the party in the state one week ultimatum to withdraw a letter sent to him on allegation that he was involved in anti-party activities or face legal action.

The state acting chairman of the party had on Tuesday threatened to sack the senator from the party for refusing to honour the party’s invitation to appear before a panel to defend himself against the allegations leveled against him.

Sani described the acting chairman and other party executive, who claimed to be party leaders as a purported group sponsored by the state government to tarnish his name.

He said the Kaduna APC had lost its key officials who had taken appointments from the state government.

He added that if criticizing Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s anti masses policies was what they termed anti-party he would continue doing so because before he became a senator he was a human rights defender.
