Sheriff accuses Makarfi of deceiving Nigerians

10 August 2016, 21:34

Abuja - Factional National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ali Modu Sheriff, has accused the caretaker ‎chairman of the party, Senator Ahmed Makarfi of  deceiving Nigerians over the current state of affairs in the party, reports Daily Trust.

Sheriff disclosed this in Abuja on Tuesday while receiving a delegation of party women from Edo State.

The women were led by Esther Opera, the Edo State deputy governorship aspirant of his faction.

Sheriff told the women that a Federal High Court in Abuja has given him the nod to continue as Chairman of the party.

He said  the court has also given him the go ahead to submit the names of the party’s governorship candidates for Edo and Ondo States, reports The Nation.

Sheriff insisted that Matthew Iduoriyekemwen is the party’s authentic candidate for the September 10 governorship election in Edo State.

He said that he was waiting for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to publish the names of  gubernatorial  candidates  of the state on Thursday to start leading the campaign of his factional candidate, Mr Mathew Iduoriyekemwen‎.

The court also said that starting from the date of last convention, May 21, 2016 in Port Harcourt, any document signed by Senator Ahmed Makarfi is illegal, null and void.‎ So I don’t know why they are deceiving Nigerians,” Sheriff added.
