Sheriff denies peace deal with Makarfi

17 July 2016, 18:53

Abuja - Factional National Chairperson of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, has said he was yet to reach an agreement with the Chairman of the party’s National Caretaker Committee, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, reports Sun.

He said contrary to insinuations that he was in the process of relinquishing power to Makarfi, Sheriff stated there was no such plan.

Sheriff was reacting to the presence of his ally, Senator Buruji Kashamu, at last week’s meeting of the PDP expanded national caucus meeting, where it was speculated that the Ogun East PDP senator had reached an agreement on behalf of Sheriff to step down for Makarfi.

Dismissing the speculation as false, the National Vice Chairman of the PDP, Dr. Cairo Ojuogboh, who spoke on behalf of Sheriff, said that the former Borno governor has not reached agreement with anybody, neither has he permitted anybody to conclude on any processes on his behalf.

Sheriff said its group is still continuing with its cases in court, reports Daily Independent

Sheriff said he will address a press conference on Monday  on the state of the party.

He said the issues that led to the crisis in the party, which he is trying to address, have not been resolved.
