Six killed in post-election clash in Bayelsa

Yenagoa - Six people were feared dead on Sunday during a victory celebration by supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Governor Seriake Dickson, reports Punch.

The dead were said to have been shot during a fracas which occurred between supporters of PDP and those of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Peremabiri community of Southern Ijaw area of the state.

Several other people were injured in the clash.

Peremabiri is the community of the ex-militant leader, Eris Paul, popularly known as Ogunboss.

It was alleged that Ogunboss led armed men in the bloody battle.

Among the injured was the Paramount Ruler of the community, Chief Progress Neverdie. He was shot in the head.

Spokesman for the State Police Command, Asinim Butswat confirmed the incident, but could not confirm information on the number of casualties.
