South-east PDP passes vote of confidence on Ekweremadu, Govs

Enugu - Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the South-east zone on Sunday passed a vote of confidence on the Deputy Senate President,  Ike Ekweremadu, reports Vanguard.

They vowed to stand with him throughout the period of his travails.

The leaders, who met in Enugu, also expressed confidence in governors of the party from the zone .

The  governors are Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, Dave Umahi of Ebonyi and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu.

The leaders also formally zoned party positions allotted to the zone to the various states with the position of National Organising Secretary going to Abia State where former party National Vice chairman, Col. Austin Akobundu, emerged as the sole candidate, reports Thisday

Among those who attended the meeting are Gov Umahi, Gov Ugwuany;  Ekweremadu; Senator Chukwuka Utazi; Ambassador Fidelia Njeze; Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu; Senator Ben Obi; Sam Egwu; Peter Obi as well the Speaker of Enugu State House of Assembly, Edward Ubosi among others.

Gov Ikpeazu, and leaders from the state were however conspicuously absent.
