Supreme Court upholds Gov Al-Makura's election

 Abuja - The Supreme Court in Abuja has upheld the election of Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura as the winner of the governorship election in Nasarawa State, reports Peoples Daily.

The court dismissed the case filed by the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship candidate,  Labaran Maku, challenging the election of the governor in the April 11 governorship election.

In its judgement on Wednesday, the apex court agreed with the ruling of the lower court; Election Petition Tribunal in Lafia and the Court of Appeal in Makurdi.

An elated Al-Makura, spoke with journalists shortly after the pronouncement by the apex court, said with the judgement the people of the state and country at large now know APGA is alien to the people of the state.

He extended a hand of friendship to all those who contested against him, urging them to come and join hands and make the state great.
