Sylva, APC in disarray over Bayelsa election

16 December 2015, 12:00

Yenagoa - Things are not adding up for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate in the Bayelsa State governorship election, Timipre Sylva, reports Leadership.

The party became divided shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) decided to cancel the election in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.

INEC had declared the election inconclusive based on reported cases of violence and hijack of the electoral materials in the area.

Before the election was declared inconclusive, Sylva trailed the incumbent governor and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the election, Seriake Dickson.

Dickson won in six out of the seven local government areas already announced.
