Abuja - The All Progressives Congress (APC)
has raised concern at the escalation of violence with Rivers State and National
Assembly rerun elections on the horizon.
The APC state chapter also doubted the professionalism of
“We wish to draw your (media) attention and indeed the
attention of all Nigerians and the entire world to the unfortunate but State
sponsored increasing insecurity, impunity and arm twisting of the Judiciary in
Rivers State,” the party said in Port Harcourt.
The party said with the election only a few days away,
instead of allowing the process to commence on an even keel with all the
candidates, APC alleged Governor Nyesom Wike and Attorney General had
influenced the judiciary, now headed by Justice Adama Iyayi-Lamikanra, with a
view to using it to disqualify some APC candidates before the polls commenced.
Rivers APC also bemoaned the violence that has coincided
with the run up to the elections.

“The All Progressives Congress has since last year been
calling the attention of the whole world to the killing of its members by
agents of the PDP in Rivers State. This criminal activity has continued and has
reached an alarming proportion.”
It reported some supporters had been killed in
Ogba/Ebema/Ndoni, Abua/Odual, Ahoada East, Andoni, Khana and Ikwerre local
government areas among others.
The party thus called on the National Assembly and the
Federal Government to call Wike to order.
Tensions have beset the oil-rich state in recent months.
Scores of people died in the run up to the general polls
Wike won the governorship election whose outcome
the APC opposed.
