Thugs invade APC secretariat over Abuja council polls

19 January 2016, 13:32

Abuja - Suspected thugs on Monday invaded the national secretariat of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja, reports Daily Trust.

The secretariat was turned into a battlefield by supporters of Amanda Pam, who was screened out from participating in the party’s Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship primary election on December 16, 2015 and the declared winner of the election, Adamu Candido.

The thugs, who forcibly entered the APC secretariat through the main gate, were, however, prevented from gaining access to the building housing the National Chairman and other National Working Committee (NWC) members.

The hoodlums displayed local charms within the party premises possibly for protection or in preparation for attacks.

Nathan Ene, the APC City Center Ward Chairman, who is believed to be a supporter of Pam, was assaulted by the thugs loyal to the declared winner of the primary election.

Security at the party secretariat had to be reinforced to prevent the complete breakdown of law and order.
