06 October 2016, 18:03

Lagos - Political associates of the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu may dump the party ahead of the 2019 general elections, reports Sun.

They are planning to leave the APC and revive the Alliance for Democracy (AD).

Tinubu’s men will use the Ondo gubernatorial election to test waters as Tinubu’s camp have opened discussions with stakeholders of AD.

Tinubu and his men are irked with the decision of the National Chairman of the party, John Oyegun to submit the name of Rotimi Akeredolu as the party’s candidate for the Ondo governorship election despite calls for the cancellation of the primary that produce Akeredolu.

Tinubu according to News 24 had called for the resignation of Oyegun over what he called the latter’s anti-democratic handling of the  party affairs.

Oyegun has, however, insisted that he had done noting wrong to warrant his resignation.

Tinubu was elected governor of Lagos state in 1999 under the AD but left to form Action Congress (AC), then Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) which later merge with three other parties to form APC in 2014.
