Two feared dead, five injured as PDP, APC clash in Bayelsa

Yenagoa - Two persons were feared dead and five others seriously injured as supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) clashed in Bayelsa State.

The incident happened on Sunday in Bassambiri, Nembe Local Government Area of the state, during a wake keep of prominent indigene of the area.

Trouble started when the PDP supporters, led by the newly appointed Caretaker Chairman, Walter Kuroekigha, chanted his party slogans during the wake, which allegedly provoked the APC members at the ceremony.

It was learnt that in the violence that ensued, the two unnamed persons were reportedly stabbed with machetes to death while five others sustained various degrees of injuries.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Asinim Butswat confirmed the clash in Nembe.
