Uguru appeals for harmony in Delta ministry

12 November 2015, 13:04Augustine Osayande

Abuja - The new Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Usani Uguru, has called on staff of the ministry to work harmoniously with the incoming administration for the benefit of the region.

Uguru said this while receiving the hand- over note from the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Wakama Asifieka.

He urged the Directors and other top management of the ministry to transparently guide the new leadership because they (directors) had long been on ground.

Uguru said that the new team required the cooperation of all staff including the messengers, to deliver on the mandate of the ministry.

“We are going to work with Nigerians from different backgrounds and so you have a duty to guide the leadership and the ministers,” Uguru said.

The minister also warned the staff against embarking on egocentrism.

“Be open to one another, when there is anything you will want to hide, tell us and we will hide it well together. Avoid scheming for popularity," said Uguru.

He encouraged teamwork.

"I believe in working together and not individual championship,” Uguru said.

He charged departmental heads to come up with memos detailing the requirements and activities of their departments.

“We are happy that we are going to work with Nigerians of different backgrounds," he said.

"We also appreciate the fact that all of you are going to guide the management team, both the Permanent Secretary and the ministers,” he said.

Uguru was among 36 ministers President Muhammadu Buhari inaugurated in Abuja on Wednesday.
