Violence breaks out in Faleke’s hometown

01 December 2015, 15:33

Lokoja- Violence has broken out in the hometown of the Deputy Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the inconclusive Kogi State governorship election, James Abiodun Faleke, reports Newsday.

Faleke is from Ekinrinade in Ojumu Local Government Area of the state.

Hundreds of youths in the town took to the streets on Tuesday to protest the decision of the leadership of the APC to bar their kinsman from emerging as the replacement of the party’s late governorship candidate, Prince Abubakar Audu.

The party had on Monday submitted the name of Yahaya Bello as its governorship candidate in the December 5 supplementary election.

Commuters traveling through the road were prevented from accessing the ever busy road.

Ekinriande provides passage to travellers going to and fro Osun State, Kwara State, Benue State, Abuja and other parts of Kogi State.

As at press time, the situation was yet to abate as there were no security operatives at the scene.
