Wike rigging claims dismissed as ploy to divide APC

24 November 2016, 16:35

Abuja – The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Rivers Governor, Nyesom Wike, of destabilising the party through vote-rigging claims ahead of the rerun elections.

Wike made the allegation in Etche against his predecessor and current Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.

The governor claimed he got the information from a member of APC who attended a meeting with Amaechi in Abuja last Tuesday where the minister reportedly made the disclosure.

“We wish to tell Gov Wike that he is simply playing mind games because no such meeting took place and no one gave him any such information as he claimed,” said APC Rivers spokesman, Chris Finebone.

He said Wike was attempting to "sow seeds of discord and confidence crisis" among APC members ahead of the rerun polls set for December 10.

The polls are projected to be a two-horse race between APC and Wike’s People’s Democratic Party.

“Gov. Wike is merely being up to his mischief best and we would not descend to his abysmal political station by dignifying his childish and laughable statements,” said Finebone
