Youth group supporting Sheriff forces PDP secretariat open

16 June 2016, 13:03

Abuja - A youth group loyal to the embattled Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ali Modu Sheriff, have stormed the National Secretariat of the party and forced open the doors of the office, reports Sahara Reporters.

News 24 had earlier reported that some youths loyal to the Caretaker Committee Chairman, Ahmed Makarfi had on Wednesday ordered staff of the secretariat out and sealed the office.

After evacuating all staff in the four-story building, protesters locked up the main gate with a new padlock and handed over the key to the Board of Trustees chairperson, Walid Jibrin, for safe keeping.

But hours after the secretariat was sealed, the group loyal to Sheriiff stormed the building and broke through the gate.

They began to sing solidarity songs in support of Sheriff.
