Abuja - Communication Technology Minister Omobola Johnson has said Nigeria’s booming information and communications technology (ICT) sector can provide even more jobs and wealth.
Last week Johnson told the Nigerian Securities Exchange (NSE) telecommunications contributed 8.3% of the country’s GDP, making it the nation’s fastest growing sector.
“The ICT sector has made tremendous progress in the last ten to twelve years,” Johnson said.
Johnson, however, believes the ICT sector can further improve the prosperity in Nigeria.
“Despite this success, there are still tremendous opportunities for growth, job and wealth creation and it is the mandate of this ministry and by implication, I believe the mandates of the state institutions and organs responsible for ICT to tap into this opportunity.”
