Lagos - Preparations for next week’s NigeriaCom received a timely boost after Omobola Johnson, the Minister of Communications Technology, as well as senior officials from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) confirmed their participation at the conference.
The two-day NigeriaCom, the largest dedicated digital event in the region, is scheduled to start on Tuesday in Lagos.
Thandi Demanet, Conference Manager for Informa Telecoms and Media, the organizers, said Johnson would participate in a panel discussion led by Etisalat, titled "Quality of Service on the Network, Challenges and Opportunities for Telecoms Operators in Nigeria.
Demanet added the organizers had also received confirmation that Dr Eugene Juwah, the Executive Vice-President of the NCC would also participate.
This is in addition to the numerous top-level operator representatives from the likes of MTN, Airtel, Globacom, Gicell, Starcomms, Vodacom and Visafone.
Other notable companies and organizations, represented at NigeriaCom include Google, Eskimi, First Bank, Spinlet, the British Broadcasting Corporation and, CEON and National Association of Telecoms Subscribers.
“I think one will agree this is an impressive line-up by anyone's standards. We are confident the interests of the entire telecoms, media and ICT community will be well catered to,” Demanet said.
She added, “All is set for a fantastic event next week. All our speakers as well as the NigeriaCom team are really excited and keen to meet up and
create synergies around the telecoms and digital markets in the country. We are particularly pleased to announce that The Honorable Mrs Johnson will be in attendance.”
More than 700 telecommunications professionals are expected to attend NigeriaCom.
On Wednesday, meanwhile, the second NigeriaCom AppGig will be held. The event is a free for all app developers to attend.
Prominent companies in the field such as Yookos, Google and Mobile Monday Nigeria will grace the show.
