Lagos - Telecommunication operators have threatened to sue the National Lottery Regulatory Commission over the proposed ban on all promos during Nigeria’s Centenary Celebrations, which starts in February, reports Daily Trust.
There are rumours that the federal government through the commission intends to impose a temporary ban on promos until the end of the country’s 100 years celebrations to enable the government run its own promo for the Centenary
Although, the companies have not been officially informed of the government’s decision, the umbrella body of all telecoms companies in Nigeria, Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON), said it was not right for government to stop companies from carrying out their businesses through any legal means.
The Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) has, however denied the plan to ban promos.
