Two institutions to serve as teaching hospitals

10 February 2014, 13:18

Abuja - The Federal University in Dutse is to use the Federal Medical Centre, Birnin-Kudu and Rasheed Shekoni Specialist Hospital, Dutse, as its teaching hospitals.

The vice-chancellor of the university, Professor Jibrila Amin, made this known in an interview in Dutse on Sunday.

He said this was based on the plan to establish faculty of medical and allied health sciences in the institution in the next two years.

He said medicine would be studied in the institution when the proposed faculty was in place.

"I have met with the managements of Federal Medical Centre, Birnin-Kudu and Rasheed Shekoni Specialist Hospital, Dutse, to use their institutions as teaching hospitals.

"We have contacted the two major hospitals in our locality to serve as our future teaching hospitals," he said.

According to Amin, faculty of management science and education would also be established the same time with medical science.

The vice-chancellor said the institution had only three faculties of agriculture, arts and social sciences, and science for now.

NAN recalls that the university was among the nine established by the Federal Government in February 2011.
